Kristin Harsma is an incredibly versatile and skilled individual, with a wide range of experiences across various creative and technical fields. Her proficiency in designing and creating costumes, lighting, props, and sculptures, along with her expertise in sewing, ceramics, and carpentry, reflects a deep commitment to craftsmanship and creativity.
At Sigma Design in Kirkland, WA, Kristin served as a Softgoods Technician, where she contributed to the creation of wearable tech prototypes. Her role involved refining CAD files and designing programs for textile parts manufacturing. Operating a range of machines, from laser cutters to embroidery machines to 3D printers, she demonstrated versatility and adaptability in her craft. Additionally, her technical writing communication skills were evident in her SOC/SOP documents for project builds and specialty equipment.
Prior to her role at Sigma Design, Kristin honed her sewing skills at various jobs such as Lululemon, Len’s Awning and Canvas, and KMK Designs LLC. She’s created many cosplays, corsets, and accessories as well as upholstered boats and furniture.
Her background in stage production as a Sound and Light Designer/Operator and Stage Technician, both at Minnsky Theatre and First Ave/Palace Theatre, showcases her expertise in creating immersive experiences for live performances. Additionally, her freelance work as a Stage Technician with Livewire Entertainment Media Services highlights her ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments while traveling to various venues.
Beyond her professional roles, Kristin has contributed her talents to various volunteer endeavors, including teaching art and sewing, curating art shows and event planning. Her education in Sculpture, Theatre Design and Technology, and Art History provides a strong foundation for her creative endeavors, while her study abroad experience in Florence, Italy, further enriched her skills in various artistic disciplines. Additionally she is TESOL certified and has taught English as a Second Language for many years.
Kristin has run her art business, Keiks Designs, since 2012. Her primary medium has been stained glass sculpture and wall installations. Her passion for sustainability, natural materials and upcycling has led her to explore a variety of mediums and techniques. Most recently, she enjoys making macramé plant hangers, and designing jewelry using laser cut wood and feathers.
